We will be a great place to work and study
Above all we want our people to be happy. This strategic plan aims to reinforce and amplify our current success for all our stakeholders; students, staff and the wider community. Happiness isn’t about forced smiles or superficial perks; it’s about fostering a genuine sense of purpose and achievement. This starts with cultivating a culture of respect, where every individual feels valued and heard. To do this we will actively listen to our people, recognise their contributions, and provide opportunities for growth and development.

We want our people to feel connected, appreciated and empowered so that they can bring their best selves to work and study each day.
For students, we will enhance personalised support, ensuring academic and pastoral needs are met through tailored learning pathways that lead to positive destinations. We will foster a vibrant, engaging environment that encourages learning and celebrates diverse achievements so that everyone can thrive.
For staff, we will promote collaborative environments that recognise and celebrate excellence. We will develop leaders who can empower staff to innovate and inspire.
Community engagement will be deepened through partnerships and outreach programs, solidifying our role as a regional hub for skills development and community cohesion.
We recognise that sometimes life can be difficult and so we will prioritise well-being, helping people to look after themselves and their families whilst ensuring they are able to contribute to a productive and thriving society.
We will be a space in which people feel they belong and can thrive
We want our campuses to be a place where people feel that they belong. Our commitment to anti-racism and an inclusive culture where everyone can feel safe is vital to us achieving this.

Our spaces will be welcoming and inspiring. Through an ambitious estates strategy we will continue to develop sustainable spaces in which creativity and a sense of community can come together to partake in educational and social activities. People need to connect if they are to achieve and so we will ensure that all members of the wider community know that Bridgend College is a place of supportive action with a commitment to helping all stakeholders achieve their objectives.
Key to this will be collaboration. Collaboration with the local business community, the local authority, Welsh Government and support services will be essential to us developing programmes and events that help all of us to prosper. We want to treat our position as a large employer and the largest provider of post-16 education in the region with respect, never forgetting that we can play our part in being a catalyst for change toward a more sustainable future and a key player in ensuring the area has the talent and drive to attract inward investment and better life chances for all.
Our doors are open to all who share our values and ambitions.
We will have a positive impact on future generations
We want to play our part in creating a brighter future for all through a commitment to achieving the seven well-being goals of the Future Generations Act and meeting our commitments as a signatory to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Accord. We will do this by embedding them into our core values and operations.

To foster a prosperous Wales, we will prioritise fair wages, invest in local economies, and promote green skills development. We will help build a resilient Wales through adopting sustainable practices, further reducing our environmental footprint, and focusing on the development and embedding of green skills technologies into our curriculum.
To contribute to a healthier Wales, we will promote well-being through a focus on health, flexible work and study, and mental health support. A more equal Wales will be advanced by implementing inclusive recruitment and enrolment practices, ensuring equal opportunities, addressing any pay gaps and ensuring students receive high quality vocational skills development and tuition. We will foster a Wales of cohesive communities through engaging with local communities, supporting social enterprises, and creating accessible services.
We will champion a Wales of vibrant culture and thriving Welsh language by supporting local arts and culture, promoting the use of the Welsh language internally and externally, and celebrating cultural diversity. Finally, we will support a globally responsible Wales by embracing ethical sourcing, reducing global impacts, and developing international links for both staff and students.
We will provide an excellent service with excellent outcomes
Our core purpose is education. We will continue to aim for excellent outcomes for all of our students. Our promise to everyone who enrols on a programme with us is that we will deliver the best qualification, in the outstanding facilities but we will also support them to achieve in the way they need us to.

We are committed to removing as many barriers to learning as we can, including providing support to those who need it, a programme of personal development and access to a range of experiences that ensure our students are ready for work and further study whilst being resilient to the challenges the current world presents.
In order to achieve this goal we need to ensure that we are financially stable and in a position to invest in future proofing our facilities and developing a workforce equipped to deliver the vision. We must operate an efficient business model in order to create surpluses that allow us to develop people and respond to the needs of the local and national workforce priorities. This means ensuring that we are key players in decisions about core funding and that we have the ability to seek out and maximise alternative income streams.
